Jakarta Servlets: URL Mappings and Request Parameters

placeholder

Jakarta Servlets are essential for developing Java web applications within the Jakarta Enterprise Edition (JEE) framework. When a JEE web app is live on a server, and a client types out a URL, how does the server know which servlet handles that request? The answer lies in URL mapping, which matches the URLs with specific servlets. Client requests also include parameters, which need to be handled appropriately as well. This course begins with constructing URL mappings using the web.xml file and the @WebServlet annotation. you’ll then learn how to manage request parameters from GET requests, distinguishing between path variables and query strings, and implementing logic to work with either. Finally, you’ll override doPost to handle HTTP POST requests, working with URL-encoded data from curl that simulates user-form submissions. The course also covers parsing JSON data with the Jackson library and XML data with JAXP.
