Jakarta Servlets: Deploying WAR Files with Maven and Cargo

There are several methods for deploying a WAR file that encapsulates a web application. Mavens Tomcat plugin, though somewhat outdated, remains widely used but is specific to Tomcat and incompatible with other web containers. Another option is Cargo, which automates and standardizes the deployment of web applications across various application servers and containers, not just Tomcat. In this course, you will define the context root and learn how to update it, including by renaming the WAR file. You will recognize that the context root is the base URL path where servlets are accessible. Next, you will configure virtual hosts and context paths via the Tomcat server.xml file, and learn to deploy and undeploy web applications using the Tomcat Web Application Manager. Finally, you will configure Maven and Tomcat for automated deployment with plugins, using first the Tomcat Maven Plugin and then Cargo.
