Jakarta Servlets: Deployment Descriptors and WAR Files

Deployment descriptors, typically the web.xml file, define servlet class details and URL mappings. WAR files, short for Web Application Archive, encapsulate and deploy servlets and Jakarta Server Pages (JSPs).Both web.xml and WAR files are essential for deploying a servlet app. In this course, you’ll examine deployment descriptors and key elements of the web.xml file. you’ll also explore how annotations have superseded the web.xml file in recent servlet API versions. Next, you’ll build and deploy a WAR file in Tomcat, analyzing Tomcats interaction with it.
