DOT Hours of Service Compliance

The goal of the FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) regulations is to improve public safety by keeping fatigued commercial motor vehicle drivers off the roads. These regulations apply to motor carriers and CMV drivers who engage in interstate commerce, and they are designed to ensure that drivers have enough time off to get the rest they need on a daily and weekly basis. The HOS rules are necessary because people are not good at judging their own drowsiness. They have been revised several times as our understanding of fatigue improves.
