At the conclusion of this course you will be able to: Discuss the concepts of wetlands their formation and their natural evolution Explain the environmental functions of wetlands – including their role in water quality and flood protection as well as their biological functions Recognize the parameters that delineate and define a wetland Describe the chemical cycles that are active in wetlands Discuss the complex interaction of chemical hydrologic physical and biological cycles within wetlands and surrounding environments Explain the relationship of wetlands to key environmental issues Recite the basic vocabulary of wetlands used by scientists and legislators This course is a part of a series of RedVector courses in Basics of Water Resources that includes: Basics of Water Resources: Groundwater Hydrology (1 hour)  Basics of Water Resources: Sources of Groundwater Contamination (2 hours)  Basics of Water Resources: Wetland Basics (3 hours)
